Located in British Columbia, Canada in the traditional territory of the Gits'iis First Peoples, the Khutzeymateen is Canada's first park dedicated as a sanctuary to Grizzly Bears. Here we are the intruders and can only enter on a boat and are not allowed to set foot on land. I stayed on a floating lodge, the Khutzeymateen Wilderness Lodge, just on the edge of the park which was an amazing experience until itself, but the bears, oh boy, the bears, were utterly incredible.
Interestingly, the only other mammals spotted were whales and porpoises and the bird life was more sparse than I anticipated, but the bears, they were everywhere!
